Glen Webb
first earned his Black Belt from Master Harold Long in early 1962. Since
that time, he has traveled all over the United States and Okinawa
practicing with and learning from as many Sensei’s as possible,
including John Bartusevics in California, a Marine who was Master
Shimabuku’s personal secretary while stationed in Okinawa.
In 1978, he spent 6 weeks as a guest of Mr. Bartusevics in Okinawa
and worked out with such notables as Master Kichero Shimabuku and Master
Angi Uezu; it was there that he was able to meet several of the Masters of
other Okinawan Karate systems. He also has studied under Dr.
Maung Gyi and is a ‘seeker’ who was never afraid to learn new
techniques from others outside the Isshinryu system of Karate.

He has taught and promoted hundreds of students over the years, many becoming champions themselves. Master Harold Long was once heard to say that Mr. Webb had ‘the fastest and deadliest hands of any big man he had ever taught’ and was one of his top instructors. He is a serious tactician with a workable understanding of the intricacies of Isshinryu Karate and is currently a 7th degree Black Belt.
He was inducted into the
Isshinryu Hall of Fame in 1999. He
has always considered himself not only a teacher, but also a student … always
wanting to learn more and he continues to work out and share his extensive
knowledge on a regular basis.
Today, Mr. Webb continues to live in his hometown, Knoxville, Tennessee with his wife, Carolyn.
